Description

Plump shrimp and savory turkey sausage sizzle alongside tender broccoli, all coated in a glossy honey garlic sauce with a hint of soy and garlic. It’s a quick, colorful skillet supper that tastes as good as it looks.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 8 ounces turkey sausage sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice optional

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl whisk together honey, soy sauce, cornstarch, and water until smooth and set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and add sliced sausage. Cook until browned, about 3 minutes per side, then transfer to a plate.
  3. Add remaining tablespoon olive oil to the skillet and add shrimp seasoned with salt and pepper. Cook until pink and opaque, about 2 minutes per side, then remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet add broccoli and garlic. Stir fry for 4 to 5 minutes until broccoli is tender crisp.
  5. Return sausage and shrimp to the skillet and pour in the honey garlic sauce. Stir constantly until the sauce thickens and coats all ingredients, about 2 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in red pepper flakes and lemon juice if using.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or lemon juice as desired.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy warm.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked shrimp to reduce cooking time if desired.
  • Swap turkey sausage for chicken or pork sausage based on preference.
  • Add a pinch of chili powder for extra heat.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
