Description
Soft, chewy bites bathed in melted butter emerge from the air fryer with a crackling crust, finished with a pinch of coarse salt for an addictive, savory twist.
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 tablespoon coarse salt
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl combine warm water, active dry yeast, and sugar and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add all purpose flour, salt, and melted unsalted butter and mix until a dough forms, then knead for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Divide the dough into two portions, roll each into a 12-inch rope, and cut into 1-inch pieces.
- In a large pot bring 4 cups water and baking soda to a boil.
- Working in batches, boil pretzel bites for 30 seconds per side, then transfer to a parchment lined tray.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and arrange pretzel bites in a single layer in the basket.
- Air fry for 8 minutes, flipping halfway through and brushing with a little melted butter.
- Remove bites, brush with remaining melted butter, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
Notes
- Ensure water temperature is around 100–110°F to activate the yeast without killing it.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket for even browning.
- Dough can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours before shaping.
- Serve warm with mustard or cheese dip.
